The deputy commissioner of Kathua today ordered suspension of a training officer, handicraft for dereliction of duty among officials regarding directly receiving public grievances under 'Prayas', an endeavour of the district administration.
He also sought explanation from Regional Transport Officer of Kathua Pardeep Manhas, Project Officer of Integrated Child development Scheme (ICDS) Rajinder Singh and General Manager, Industries Rajinder Sharma for being absent from the meeting held every Wednesday under the 'Prayas' programme, an official said.
Kathua Deputy Commissioner Rohit Khajuria said every officer should be present for the meetings at the notified time to make the administration more vibrant and accountable.
"It is mandatory for every officer to remain present in this weekly program to resolve people issues proactively besides attending their regular duties," he said.
Khajuria said 'Prayas' has proved to be instrumental in connecting people, especially from remote areas, directly with the district administration through telephonic calls and redressal of public grievances in a time-bound manner.
