Training programme on irrigation scheme PMKSY starts in Pune

The first training programme on the central scheme for irrigation 'Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna (PMKSY)' for service officers (IAS/IFS) has commenced today in Pune.
Last month, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) had approved a new scheme the 'Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana' (PMKSY). The scheme would have an outlay of Rs 50,000 crore over a period of five years (2015-16 to 2019-20). The allocation for the current fiscal is Rs 5,300 crore.
"The inauguration programme of the First Training Program on Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna (PMKSY) for All India Services Officers (IAS/IFS) was held at National Water Academy (NWA), Pune on Monday 24 August 2015," an official statement said.
The programme was inaugurated by DK Jain, Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture), Government of Maharashtra.
Sanjeev Chopra, Joint Secretary (Agriculture) gave the overview of the PMKSY and the expectation from PMKSY. He also released the Training Manual and Reading Materials on PMKSY for District Irrigation Plan (DIP).
Under the recently launched central scheme PMKSY, it has been decided to organise training programs for All India Services Officers (IAS/IFS) of recent three Batches.
