A transgender person was shot dead by some unidentified assailants who dumped her body in a sack in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said today.
The incident happened last night when the deceased identified as Nasir was at her residence in Peshawar, the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
"Her body was found in a sack later in the evening and it also bore torture marks, police added.
As part of the initial investigation, two suspects were arrested and an FIR registered.
Condemning the incident, Trans Action Pakistan, an organisation working for the rights of transgender persons stated that this was the 62nd killing of a transgender person in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2015, the Geo news reported.
Violence against transgenders continues unabated in the region. A few days back, three transgender persons were wounded in a knife attack by unidentified people in Peshawar's Sarband area, said the report.
In March, a transgender person and her friend were shot dead in Peshawar.
