A translocated rhino gave birth to a male calf in Assam's Kaziranga National Park today.
The rhino, among the first to be translocated from the Kaziranga National Park under the Indian Rhino Vision-2020, gave birth to the calf in Bansbari range, Park Director Anindya Swargiary said.
Watch was being kept on the mother and calf, he said.
Earlier, another rhino which gave birth on March 20 was killed by poachers on April two and its horns removed. Its missing calf was sighted and rescued yesterday.
With the births, the rhino population in the park has gone up to 23.
