Chief Minister Oommen Chandy apprised the reporters about the decision after a cabinet meeting here today.
The ban would be effected along the Kerala coast up to 12 nautical miles.
Monsoon being the spawning season for a large variety of fish, particularly shrimp,the annual trawling restriction was first introduced in Kerala in 1988 as a conservation measure.
Since then it has been a routine annual affair.
During the ban period, trawlers and mechanised boats are not allowed to enter the area demarcated by the government.
Administrative sanction has been given for commencing the work of Edapally flyover which will be undertaken by DMRC. The state will give Rs 95 crore for the Rs 135 crore project, the chief minister said.
Income limit of expatriates who were entitled to get financial assistance from NORKA welfare scheme have been raised to Rs one lakh from Rs 20,000, he said.
