The Congress MLA, in an application filed in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Vipin Singh Bhadoria on May 16, said that all these five persons, including District BJP President Nand Kishore, District BJP Yuva Morcha President Rakesh Giri and former Parliamentary Secretary Baby Raja, had "conspired" to get the tribal girl married on April 25 in Taprian village.

Yadvendra claimed the marriage was invalid as the man who married the tribal girl had already tied the knot last year and had not divorced his first wife.

Earlier, a verbal war seemed to be brewing between Madhya Pradesh's ruling BJP and main Opposition Congress over the issue, especially the girl's age.

The Congress had claimed that she was a minor when she got married last month under the state government's 'Kanyadaan' scheme, while the BJP said she was an adult at the time of her marriage.

While Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh had said that the girl's school records stated that she was born in 1996, Jha maintained that she was born much earlier, citing an age certificate issued by a medical officer in neighbouring Chhattarpur district.

Singh countered Jha's claim, saying the certificate had no meaning as the girl was married in Tikamgarh and therefore her age certificate should have come from a doctor there.
