A 65-year old tribal man was trampled to death by an elephant today near Gudalur, about 80 KMs from here, police said.
Bellan was returning home at Sembakolli around 3 AM after attending a family function when an elephant suddenly appeared from the bush and fatally attacked him.
Some of the relatives, who started searching for him after noticing that he was missing, found him lying with serious injuries.
Though he was taken to a hospital, Bellan died on the way, police said.
