A tribal woman was today sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment for beating her brother to death in 2011.
The court of Additional District Judge II of East Singhbhum Deepak Nath Tiwari convicted Guruwari Tudu under section 304(II) IPC and sentenced her to four years RI.
Guruwari's father Wakil Tudu was, however, acquitted due to lack of evidences against him.
The public prosecutor, Sushil Kumar said eight witnesses were examined in course of the trial.
According to a FIR lodged in this connection under Patamda police station in East Singhbhum district, the victim, Thakura Tudu, who was a brother of the convict Guruwari, was a drunkard and was in the habit of demanding money from them.
Guruwari and her father had beaten him with lathis following an altercation over the issue and seriously injured him on June 23, 2001.
Thakura had succumbed to his injuries later.
