The party organized a commemorative function and congregational prayers for Jehan, popularly known as "Madar-e-Meharbaan" who was the wife of NC founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah at Qaid Mazaar, Naseem Bagh here.
Former chief minister and NC working president Omar Abdullah and other senior leaders paid floral tributes to Jehan at her grave and offered 'Fateha' on the occasion, a party spokesman said.
In a message, NC president recollected the spirit of social service and social justice that was upheld by his mother and described her as an epitome of selfless social service, conviction, piety and courage.
He said the party would continue to be the flag-bearers of Kashmiriyat, Internal Autonomy and Article 370 despite all odds.

Omar highlighted the tremendous work done by Jehan for the cause of women empowerment and said she was a staunch advocate of educating our women and providing them with equal rights of dignity, empowerment and honour.
"Madar-e-Meharbaan's contribution in established Development Boards and Hostels for tribal and economically backward sections of the society is historic and continues to bear fruit to this day. National Conference will continue to treasure the legacy of Madar-e-Meharbaan and work with honesty and sincerity to uphold our values and ideals," he said.
