At an official function, anti-terrorism pledge was administered to government employees at the Durbar Hall of the state secretariat here while leaders of Congress, heading the ruling UDF, recalled Gandhi's contributions in an event at the KPCC Headquarters.
Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president V M Sudheeran said ensuring power to youths in decision making and in administration was the most important contribution of the late leader.
Gandhi took the initiative for providing voting rights at the age of 18, and also paved way for decentralisation of power by bringing the Panchayat Raj legislation, he noted.
Former KPCC chief K Muraleedharan, MLAs, and several other senior leaders attended the function.
Rajiv Gandhi, who was the sixth and youngest PM of India, was assassinated on May 21, 1991 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu during a poll campaign.
