Ace India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh described 'Prabirda' as the "real son of Eden Gardens" while several others also took to social media to pay their last tributes.
"Very sad 2 know The Real son of Eden garden Prabir mukhrjee chief curator passed away. Tnx dada 4 everything #RIP," Harbhajan wrote in his Twitter handle.
Posting a smiling photograph of Mukherjee, the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) in its official Twitter handle wrote, "CAB's former curator Prabir Mukherjee passes away at 86. RIP Sir."
"Saddened to hear the passing away of Mr. Prabir Mukherjee, long time curator and ex-secretary at @CabCricket. May his soul Rest in Peace," wrote Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary.
"RIP Prabir Mukherjee.. A man who dedicated his heart and soul to the great Eden Gardens," wrote another Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu.
