TMC secretary-general Partha Chatterjee in his complaint said that by doing this the intellectuals were 'misguiding' the masses in clear violation of the model code of conduct.
"A section of intellectuals are behaving as if they are flag-bearers of a particular political party. They are misguiding the masses. Even after campaigning has stopped, they are campaigning in favour of a certain political party. They have violated the model code of conduct."
The TMC secretary-general described this as a "sinister propaganda to malign the TMC and its achievements" and said "the intellectuals are speaking in such a manner as if democratic rights of the masses have been brutalised during the polls."
The former Lok Sabha Speaker had yesterday said,"There is no option but to put up resistance against what's going on in West Bengal. I do not want any violence or bloodshed while doing that. People have to take to the streets to build up a resistance to reclaim their freedom of speech and expression."
