The Congress party's anti-people policies led to its rout during Lok Sabha elections, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said here today.
The ruling BJP government is forcibly imposing Hindutva on the people through RSS and other frontal organisations, he said, addressing the four-day national conference of the All India Agricultural Workers' Union (AIAWU) which began here with a public meeting at Azam Zahi Mills (O city) in Warangal.
He said that union government had failed to think about comprehensive labour laws to benefit working classes.
The Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) failed to achieve expected results due to the lack of laws, and the ruling government failed to fulfill its promises made to the public, he said.
He said that the union government's policies and its recent budget, is not to the satisfaction of the youth and the working class.
The union government has ignored the farm sector in its budget, which has led to price hikes and shortage of essential commodities.
He called upon people to fight the anti-people policies of the union government and state governments.
He also demanded that the union government constitute comprehensive labour laws particularly for agricultural labour.
