"Today is an important day because future industrialisation of the state would not be possible without improvement of Information Technology", Sarkar said laying the foundation of the STP.
He appealed the investors of the country to invest in Tripura to set up industries based on the raw material available in the state.
"Tripura is an industry friendly state and the government would help in setting up industry by all means to create more job opportunities. Even in many sectors the government would welcome joint ventures", the chief minister said.
The Rs 42.47 crore Park, fully supported by the Software Technology Park of India (STPI), would boost information technology and e-governance in the state, Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) chairman Pabitra Kar said.
The TIDC is the nodal body of the STP and Avon Technologies India Private limited of Hyderabad gave the consultancy for setting up the Park, Kar said, adding, this is the fifth such park in the North East region.
