The meeting was held last night where the opposition Congress demanded Fast Track courts headed by women judges in the state for expeditious disposal of such cases, official sources said.
Chief minister, who also holds the home portfolio informed the meeting that the government was also considering setting up of Fast Track courts in every district, sources said.
Tripura government had convened the meeting in view of the assurance given by chief minister at the floor of the assembly on April 29 that an all-party meeting would be convened to discuss the issue.
Chief Minister said a three-member committee with Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar Panda, DGP, Sanjay Sinha and Law Secretary Datamohan Jamatiya was formed to review the proposals and make a report suggesting measures.
The leader of the opposition, Ratan Lal Nath, who also attended the meeting told reporters that according to the report of National Crime Record Bureau, 1559 crime against women were recorded in Tripura of which 229 were rape cases and this is alarming.
