Tripura presents Rs 9,211.10 cr Budget for FY'14

No new tax proposals were announced in the Rs 9,211.10-crore Budget for 2013-14 presented by the Tripura government in the Assembly today.
The Budget deficit has been pegged at Rs 205.39 crore, which would be realised by better utilisation of state resources, austerity measures and fiscal discipline, Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury said while presenting the Budget here.
The state's tax revenue is projected at Rs 1,184 crore, which is 14.62 per cent higher than last year and non-tax revenue at Rs 220 crore, which is 22.74 per cent higher.
The overall outlay of state plan has been increased to Rs 3,069.55 crore which is 20.50 per cent higher than the previous year.

In his budget speech, Chowdhury said the state's fiscal health had improved due to sound management, austerity measures and improvement in revenue collection.
Tripura has been able to achieve all the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) targets last year and it would be achieved during the current year too, he said.

Chowdhury said the state will continue with need-based recruitments in government services and allot homestead lands to homeless and landless families on priority.
He urged the central government to enact a comprehensive legislation for monitoring and control of non-banking financial companies for protection of investors.
He also appealed to it for implementation of recommendations of Ranganath Mishra Commission and Sachar Committee for religious minorities.
