Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today said that over 95 per cent literacy rate was not enough for the state and it was working hard to achieve cent per cent literacy.
"We have secured 95.16 per cent literacy and occupied the first position in literacy, but it is not enough. We have to attain cent per cent literacy and our government is working hard to achieve it," Sarkar told a function here organised on the occasion of Literacy Day.
He said Tripura's literacy position was fourth among the states in the country in the 2011 census, but after that the state government took extra efforts and last year a survey was conducted under the supervision of the Indian Statistical Institute and found that the literacy rose to 95.16 per cent in the state.
