TBGKS bagged 45.40 per cent of votes in the elections held yesterday, a SCCL release said.
According to the results declared late last night, TBGKS polled 23,848 votes, while its nearest rival Singareni Collieries Workers' Union polled 19,631 votes (37.37 per cent).
The election witnessed 94.94 per cent polling. The total number of voters was 52,534.
The outcome of the election is a shot in the arm for the TRS as opposition Congress and TDP had joined hands in the trade union poll.
Recalling TRS' success in the bypolls for Narayanakhed assembly segment and Warangal and Medak Lok Sabha constituencies during the last couple of years, he said the victory of TBGKS only reaffirmed the faith of Telangana people in the TRS.
The victory in the Singareni polls came despite AICC leader and Telangana incharge for Congress affairs R C Khuntia having campaigned, Rao said.
