The ruling TRS and main opposition Congress in Telangana were today engaged in a war of words over construction of irrigation projects in the state.
Congress leaders tried to cause hurdles in the construction of irrigation projects by filing cases in courts, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao alleged.
"Congress party leaders filed cases in the name of the dead. (This is) politics over dead bodies," he told reporters here.
Congress was trying to defame the TRS government by politicising every issue, Rao alleged, asserting that the state government's endeavour is to fully utilise the state's share in Godavari river water (with the construction of projects).
The opposition party was indulging in mud-slinging though the state government took up construction of projects after obtaining all permission from the Centre with due scrutiny, he alleged.
Hitting back, Congress leader A Revant Reddy alleged that the TRS government indulged in escalation of costs of projects.
The TRS government has not taken up any new projects and that it only changed the names of previously-conceived projects, he claimed.
