Terming as "very weird" Donald Trump's refusal to commit himself to accept poll results and his praise for Russian President Vladimir Putin, Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine has said the Republican nominee will not defend US' democratic traditions.
"He (Trump) will not defend American democratic traditions. He will not condemn a foreign nation that is trying to influence and destabilise an American election. There is something very, very weird about that. Very weird," Kaine said at an election rally in Florida yesterday.
"Donald has gotten the same briefings I have about the Russian effort to influence the outcome of the election but again and again, when that came up he kept saying 'We have no knowledge that it is Russia. It could be anybody'.
"In one debate, he said it could be a 400-pound kid in a basement. Then the other night he said it could be China. 'We have no evidence that it is Russia'. He would not acknowledge what our own intelligence officials are telling him, so put those two facts together," Kaine said.
Noting that Trump has been going around saying that the election will be rigged, he said that is the sore loser thing.
"If you know you are losing and you think you are going to lose, then you have got to have an excuse because, Lord forbid, you could never take responsibility for it yourself.
"You know that the day after the election, if Trump loses, he is not going to say, 'Maybe I should not have run the most divisive campaign in modern history. There is a lesson for next time'. I do not think he is going to do any soul- searching and reach any conclusions or take any responsibility. So it has got to be somebody else's fault," Kaine said.

He said the good news is that people are not buying it.
During the rally, Kaine spoke about the energy and excitement that is building across the country, as Democrats, Republicans and Independents join together to reject Trump's dangerous and divisive agenda.
There is too much at stake to stand on the sidelines in this election, Kaine said, adding that they have got to turn out big to show any other country do not think they can mess with an American election.
"We cannot take anything for granted because Donald Trump is setting it up to whine that it was all rigged but if we win big, he can still whine, but nobody will believe him... We cannot take anything for granted because if we are able to win big, we will bring in more members of the House and the Senate who will help Hillary do the things I was just describing, and move this nation forward. We cannot take anything for granted," Kaine added.
