Donald Trump's shock election win has even forced the producers of a popular American TV show to rewrite its storyline which had originally included a fictitious premise depicting a victory for his presidential rival Hillary Clinton.
The show called 'The Good Fight' received a last minute rewrite as executive producers Robert and Michelle King wanted the story to be "as current as possible" so they quickly made adjustments to a character in the script shortly after Republican Trump beat Democrat Clinton.
"Like most pollsters, we thought Hillary Clinton would win the presidency, so we wrote scenes about Diane (character) retiring from the law because she 'broke every glass ceiling,'" the Kings told Entertainment Weekly adding, "Obviously we needed to rewrite - on the eighth day of shooting".
The show - a spin-off of "The Good Wife" - will now air on CBS All Access with actress Christine Baranski's Diane Lockhart character "stunned and shell-shocked" watching the presidential inauguration.
"The show tends to be a satire of the liberal mindset," the producers said. "So it felt funny and awful to play off of Diane's stunned reaction to the inauguration," they said.
