TTD approves annual budget

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which governs the ancient hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala near here, today approved the budget projecting an estimated revenue of Rs 2,858 crore for the fiscal 2017-2018.
TTD Board Chairman Chadalavada Krishnamurthy and Executive Officer D Sambhasiva Rao told reporters that cash offerings by devotees at the temple hundi was projected for Rs 1,110 crore while interest on investments in various nationalised banks was estimated to fetch Rs 807.7 crore.
The sale of hair to be offered by devotees after getting their heads tonsured was expected to fetch Rs 100 crore while sale of different worship tickets was estimated to net Rs 256 crore.
The much sought after sacred laddu prasadam sale might amount to Rs 165 crore while the revenue from pilgrim accommodation allotted to the devotees during their short stay was estimated to be around Rs 124 crore, they said.
On expenses, various engineering works to be taken was estimated at about Rs 200 crore while salaries to the permanent staff and out sourcing workers was projected for Rs 828 crore, they said.
