Officials sources said Tuki expressed optimism that the dream of having a Sainik School in Arunachal would be at last fulfilled as Gen Singh has assured his commitment to the proposal.
There are 24 Sainik Schools in the country so far. In the north-east only Assam and Manipur boasts of a prestigious school each.
The Army Chief had already accepted the proposal in principle during his last meet with the chief minister over lunch in Itanagar.
During the meeting, sources said the CM also emphasised on improving connectivity in the border areas of the state.
He impressed upon the General that connectivity was urgently needed not only in the field of surface communication but also air connectivity as well as tele-communication.
Prospects in civic action programmes like Operation Sadbhavana, creation of infrastructure like community halls, playgrounds, etc and education and health services were discussed in detail, where the Army can play a major role.
Lamenting on the sluggish progress of road projects by BRO in the state, particularly in strategic border locations, Tuki urged the Army Chief to intervene and make the BRO work to the expectations of the people. (MORE)
