Anadolu Agency said today that detention warrants were issued for a total of 40 suspects who are suspected of leaking questions before the exam date.
Turkish authorities believe that years-long exam fraud allowed supporters of US-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen to infiltrate the police force. Turkey accuses Gulen of masterminding last year's failed coup attempt. The cleric denies involvement.
The suspects were detained in raids in Ankara, Istanbul and three other cities. Anadolu said all of the suspects were previously fired from public sector jobs.
