Turkey's state-run news agency says the military has ended operations against Kurdish militants in a town in southeastern Turkey, adding that as many as 114 rebels were killed in the offensive.
Anadolu Agency says the military concluded a 20-day operation in the mostly Kurdish town of Idil today. It said however, that a curfew on the town will remain until further notice.
Since August, authorities have been imposing 24-hour curfews in several flashpoint districts in the southeast to facilitate operations to root out militants linked to the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, who had raised barricades, dug trenches and planted explosives.
The military operations have raised concerns over possible human rights abuses, and rights groups say at least 224 civilians have been killed.
