A Turkish air strike killed 11 civilians trying to flee Afrin in northern Syria today, a monitor said, as Turkey-led forces pressed an assault on the outskirts of the Kurdish-majority city.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said more than 280 civilians have been killed since the Turkey-led offensive against a Kurdish militia in the Afrin region began on January 20.
Ankara has repeatedly said it takes the "utmost care" to avoid civilian casualties.
