Turmeric prices were down 0.64 per cent at Rs 7,194 per quintal in futures trade today on account of easing domestic and export demand at the spot market amid higher acreage this season.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in October fell by Rs 46 or 0.64 per cent to Rs 7,194 per quintal with an open interest of 11,885 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in November contracts traded lower by Rs 32 or 0.44 per cent to Rs 7,234 per quintal in a open interest of 9,195 lots.
Market analysts said offloading of positions by traders, triggered by fall in domestic and export demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position on increased supplies, mainly kept pressure on turmeric prices at futures trade.
