Turmeric futures fall 1.17 pc on weak exports demand

Turmeric prices declined by 1.17 per cent to Rs 5,936 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions amidst weak exports as well as domestic demand against adequate stocks position.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in November fell by Rs 70, or 1.17 per cent to Rs 5,936 per quintal with an open interest of 5,725 lots.
Also, the spice for delivery in October traded lower by Rs 58, or 0.98 per cent to Rs 5,886 per quintal in 13,685 lots.
Market analysts attributed the fall in turmeric futures to weak exports and domestic demand against adequate stocks position.
