Amid sluggish domestic demand and adequate stocks position, turmeric prices drifted 1.29 per cent to Rs 9,922 per quintal in futures trading today as participants cut down their bets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in far-month May fell Rs 130, or 1.29 per cent, to Rs 9,922 per quintal with an open interest of 4,750 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in April traded lower by Rs 118, or 1.19 per cent, to Rs 9,978 per quintal in 23,165 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by traders on the back of sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks positions on higher supplies from producing belts dragged down turmeric prices at futures trade.
