Amid sluggish domestic demand and adequate stocks position, turmeric prices drifted 2.22 per cent to Rs 9,326 per quintal in futures trading today as participants trimmed positions.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in December fell Rs 212, or 2.22 per cent, to Rs 9,326 per quintal with an open interest of 22,090 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in far-month April traded lower by Rs 206, or 2.02 per cent, to Rs 9,986 per quintal in 15,530 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by traders on the back of sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks positions on higher supplies from producing belts dragged down turmeric prices at futures trade.
