Turmeric prices went up by 2.32 per cent to Rs 7,492 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions following uptick in demand at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in September rose by Rs 170, or 2.32 per cent, to Rs 7,492 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,305 lots.
On similar lines, the spice for delivery in October went up by Rs 124, or 1.68 per cent, to Rs 7,508 per quintal in 5,880 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by participants following an upsurge in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions, mainly pushed up turmeric prices at futures trade.
