At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April month rose Rs 52 or 0.61 per cent to Rs 8,634 per quintal with an open interest of 23,500 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in May contracts traded higher by Rs 46 or 0.53 per cent to Rs 8,736 per quintal in 7,430 lots.
Market analysts said fresh positions built up by traders on the back of pick up in demand in the spot market against tight stocks on restricted supplies from producing belts mainly led to the rise in turmeric prices at futures trade.
