Turmeric prices tumbled 2.35 per cent to Rs 6,650 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed exposures amid fall in demand in the spot market against adequate supplies.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in September plunged by Rs 160, or 2.35 per cent, to Rs 6,650 per quintal with an open interest of 5,210 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August traded lower by Rs 136, or 2.08 per cent, to Rs 6,412 per quintal in 11,625 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators, driven by a fall in demand in the spot market against adequate supplies from producing regions, mainly kept pressure on turmeric prices at futures trade.
