Turmeric prices fell by 0.93 per cent to Rs 7,890 per quintal in futures trade today as traders reduced their exposures, driven by subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocks.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in June declined by Rs 74 or 0.93 per cent to Rs 7,890 per quintal with an open interest of 23,985 lots.
On similar lines, the spice for delivery in far-month July contracts traded lower by Rs 52 or 0.65 per cent to Rs 7,920 per quintal in 13,125 lots.
Analysts said trimming of positions by participants amid low demand in the spot market against adequate stocks positions on higher supplies from producing belts dragged down turmeric prices at futures trade.
