Turmeric prices rose 0.94 per cent to Rs 5,984 per quintal in futures trading today after speculators created fresh positions on the back of rising spot demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in July gained Rs 56, or 0.94 per cent, to Rs 5,984 per quintal with an open interest of 13,760 lots.
In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in June moved up by Rs 44, or 0.76 per cent, to Rs 5,856 per quintal in 2,225 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, supported by upsurge in demand in the spot market, led to rise in turmeric prices at futures trade.
