Turmeric and jeera prices rose up to Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today largely influenced by restricted arrivals from producing belts amid pick up in demand from local parties as well as overseas enquiries.
Turmeric prices rose by Rs 200 to settle at Rs 6,500-12,000 per quintal on concerns about the quality of crop in top producer Andhra Pradesh due to heavy rains.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also moved higher by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 12,400-12,900 and Rs 16,400-16,700 per quintal, respectively, on a pick up in local demand.
Traders said restricted arrivals from producing belts against buying support from retailers and stockists mainly pushed up turmeric and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
The following are today's quotations per quintal:
Ajwain 13,000-18,500, black pepper (per kg) 550-680, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,000-1,100 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,150-1,300.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 670-770, cardamom (colour robin) 620-720, cardamom bold 670-720, cardamom extra (bold) 820-920 and cloves (kg) 850-900.
