Turmeric and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely on the back of increased buying by retailers amid fall in supplies from producing belts.
Besides, a firming trend in futures market also supported the uptrend.
Turmeric prices were up by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 7,800-12,800 per quintal.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also traded Rs 100 each higher at Rs 12,300-12,500 and Rs 15,500-16,000 per quintal, respectively.
Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists against fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up turmeric and jeera prices.
Following are today's quotations:
Ajwain (per kg) 155-200, black pepper (per kg) 730-925, betel-nut (kg) 270-320, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,600-1,650 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,700-1,800.
