Turmeric prices in futures trade slip 1.53% on fall in demand
Press Trust of India New Delhi Turmeric prices were down 1.53 per cent to Rs 6,560 per quintal in futures trade today as participants reduced their exposure due to easing demand at the domestic spot markets.
Though, some losses were capped on rising exports demand at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May fell by Rs 102, or 1.53 per cent, to Rs 6,560 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,520 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in April traded lower by Rs 100, or 1.50 per cent, to Rs 6,540 per quintal, in an open interest of 14,055 lots.
Market analysts said offloading of positions by traders, triggered by fall in demand at the domestic spot markets against adequate stock position on increased supplies, mainly kept pressure on turmeric prices in futures trade.
