The police today claimed to have solved a twin murder case by arresting a woman, who along with her paramour had killed her husband and father-in-law in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on the intervening night of October 23-24.
Renu Devi (42) had developed illicit relations with the cousin of her husband Sham Lal (44), following which she had frequent quarrels with her husband, Station House Officer (SHO), Assar Police Station, Farooq Ahmed said.
He said police received a missing complaint yesterday from the family members of Sham Lal that he along with his father was missing from their house from last night.
"Sham Lal, who had unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, was a known figure and we had information that he had some domestic issues with his wife," Ahmed said.
He said a police team questioned Devi who broke down and confessed the killing of father-son duo with the help of her paramour Om Parkash and two of his associates.
"During questioning, Devi revealed that on the intervening night of October 23-24, she called Parkash, who along with two of his associates reached the house of Lal armed with sharp axes. The four accused attacked the father-son duo with the axes and killed them after which their bodies were thrown in a ditch a few meters away from their house," the officer said.
He said in the presence of a duty magistrate, the bodies were recovered and after all legal and medical formalities were handed over to their relatives for last rites.
"The four accused have been booked under various sections of Ranbir Penal Code (RPC). Devi has been arrested while manhunt is on to nab other three," he said.
