Delhi Police in a joint operation with their Bihar counterparts have rescued two brothers, residents of the national capital who were abducted last week from Patna, police said today.
The two brothers Suresh (43) and Kapil (27), were rescued with the arrest of their three abductors this morning from Bihar, said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch).
The two brothers, labour contractors in South-East Delhi's Badarpur area had left for Patna by flight on October 21 evening to meet a client who had offered them a contract for stone work (inlay) at a large construction site in Bihar.
They reached Patna airport but around 11 pm they called their family informing that they were kidnapped by Naxalites, said the officer.
A case was registered and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Bihar Police approached Delhi Police for clues regarding the case as a ransom call of Rs 4 crore was received by the family of the victims.
The Crime Branch team of Delhi Police alongwith SIT team conducted a raid on October 23 and apprehended Ayub Khan from Hazira Colony in Chattarpur. Khan also worked as labor contractor for stone inlay works, he said.
During interrogation, he provided crucial clues in the case, leading to identification of one of the abductors Ranjit (37), a resident of Lakhi Sarai in Bihar.
Working on the information, Bihar Police arrested Ranjit and other abductors, Pintu Kumar and Sanjeet and rescued Suresh and Kapil, added the officer.
