Two alleged bovine smugglers were arresred and 16 animals were rescued from being illegally transported in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir today, a police official said here.
Based on reliable information, a police party of intercepted two trucks in Majalta belt in the district, a police officer said. During a search, 16 bovines were found illegally loaded in these vehicle, he said.
All the animals were rescued and the vehicles seized, the officer said adding that the two alleged bovine smugglers Abdul Khamid and Mohd Irfan of Samba and Ramban districts were arrested.
A case was registered at Majalta Police Station and investigation is going on, he said.
