"The vehicle (an SUV) carrying around Rs 40 lakh for DB Power's plant in Janjgir-Champa district was stopped by two armed men, who looted the cash at gun-point and fled," Raigarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Bhagat told PTI.
The car was on its way to the adjoining district from Kharsiya town in Raigarh district and the incident took place near Basnajhariya village, he said.
The cash, being transported under supervision of three employees of the plant, was meant for payment to labourers at the power facility, the SP said.
A manhunt for the robbers has been launched, he added.
