The hand-grenade, when thrown during testing, went off quicker than the actual time it was supposed to take to explode, said Colonel B P Singh, PRO of Madhya Bharat Area of Central Command of Army.
Both the jawans were admitted to the military hospital. One of them had sustained grievous injuries and was operated upon, Colonel Singh added.
The MMHG was supposed to explode four seconds after it was hurled, but it went off before time, initial probe suggested. A court of inquiry (COI) had been ordered, the PRO said.
