Two arrested, explosives seized

A large quantity of explosives was seized today and two persons were arrested in this connection from a village under Mufassil police station area in Bihar's Aurangabad district, a police officer said.
During vehicle checking ahead of general elections, a police team intercepted a Bolero Jeep on NH-2 in Hora village and recovered five quintal explosive gel and four quintal detonating fuse from it, Superintendent of Police (SP) Upendra Kumar Sharma said.
Two persons, identified as Md Parvez (Kolkata)and Md Imtiyaz (Gaya in Bihar) were arrested while they were travelling in the vehicle with the consigment of explosives, he said.
The explosives were being taken to Gaya from Varanasi, Sharma said.
Both Imtiyaz and Parvez were booked under relevant provisions of law for failing to explain purpose of use of explosive materials, he said.
A probe was on with regard to recovery of explosive materials under broader ambit of its potential use for terror or naxal attack during elections, the SP said, adding the interrogation of the two arrested men was on.
