Two arrested for attempt to loot ATM

Two persons were arrested for their unsuccessful attempt to loot an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) of Punjab National Bank in Palahi village, police said today.
The duo identified as as Jaswinderpal alias Manga and Narinder Kumar alias Nindi, both residents of village Palahi, were arrested last night and an iron rod and a motorcycle was recovered from them, Phagwara SP Gursevak Singh Brar said.
The duo had stolen the motorcycle sometime back from Raja Garden colony here, Brar said.
A special investigating police team, headed by DSP Jasbir Sigh Rai, examined the CCTV footage of the bank's ATM and identified the culprits.
The arrested duo had broken into the ATM booth on Monday but could not succeed in opening the machine, he said, adding, the machine contained Rs 7.5 lakh at the time of the crime.
On complaint of Manager Sandip Sharma, the police had earlier registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of the IPC.
