Two men were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a tea-seller at gunpoint and demanding a ransom of Rs 3 lakh from him, police said today.
The accused were identified as Vatan, (30), and Jan Mahan Singh (23), and one 9 mm loaded pistol with one spare live cartridge and a car were recovered from them, they said.
In the intervening night of July 23 and 24, the picket duty staff, posted at Jhatikara border, spotted a Chevrolet car coming from Dharmpura, Gurgaon.
Police observed that the car with white number plate was a taxi from Rohtak. When police signalled them to stop, the driver increased the speed of the car to escape. But police managed to stop them by blocking the road and overpowered them, said Anto Alphonse, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka).
On enquiry, the police found that one Harpal Singh was injured. His hands were tied and eyes were blocked by black tap glasses, the DCP said.
He was allegedly kidnapped at gun point for ransom by the other two seating inside the car. Singh was immediately rescued, Alphonse said.

During interrogation, when the victim was busy with his routine at his tea shop, a person came to him and asked for a cup of tea.
He then told the victim to meet his boss who was sitting in a car. When the victim and the accused reached near the car, the other accused placed a pistol on his head and threatened him to not shout and pushed him inside the car, the DCP said.
When the victim resisted, he was beaten up and sustained several injuries, he said.
The accused were taking Harpal to a rented DDA flat at Delhi Bakkarwala, which was owned by Vatan, he said.
During investigation, the accused said that Jan Mahan Singh knew the victim.
The accused learnt that Harpal had sold a land and got Rs 2-3 crore. Subsequently, they planned to extort money from him, he added.
