Two persons were arrested here today for their alleged links with Maoists, police said.
Anandan (36) and Ramanan (38) were arrested from Kundara near here and remanded in police custody by a local court, they said.
The duo had acquired ID cards and photos of some women in a tribal colony at Kadabanad in the district offering them finance under a micro finance scheme.
However, the women failed to get the offered finance and lodged a police complaint. An investigation into the case led to the arrest of the duo, police said.
The ID cards and photos of the women were used by the duo for securing mobile sim cards which were used by Maoist leader Roopesh who was arrested from Coimbatore.
Roopesh, wanted in at least 20 cases in Kerala, and four others, including a woman, were arrested on May 4 by Andhra police following a joint operation by that state, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu police.
