The police said the incident happened late last night when a boat carrying over 50 people was ferrying from Moinbari to Beuldi char, collided head-on with another boat coming from the opposite direction.
Fifteen people fell in the water and were missing initially, while the rest were rescued by locals or swam ashore. However, during the course of the night 14 others were rescued.
A 12-year-old boy Ansar Ali is still missing. The police and State Disaster Response Force swung into action in the night itself. The search for the missing kid is still one.
