Two booked for demanding Rs 15 lakh bribe

Two persons were booked for allegedly demanding a hefty bribe of Rs 15 lakh from a widow for giving her job at their educational institute, Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials said today.
Vardhaman Nihalchand Pandey, secretary of Chandvad Chintaman Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha (CSPS) and son of the chairperson, Bhooshan Kasaliwal were booked under relevant sections of Anti-Corruption Act for demanding Rs 15 lakh as bribe from widow of one of their employees, an ACB press release issued here today said.
Complainant's husband, who worked as a headmaster in CSPS-run ashram school at in Chandvad taluka of the district, died in an accident in 2012. The complainant had then applied for a job as a teacher at the ashram school and also sent her application to Assistant Commissioner, district social welfare department, the release said.
She further stated that the department had issued orders to CSPS to appoint her at their school. Accordingly, she went to meet the organisation secretary and Bhooshan Kasliwal who demanded bribe of Rs 15 lakh for her appointment.
It was also decided on couple of occasions to receive the amount but the accused somehow shunned citing various reasons for their unavailability.
The woman then lodged a complaint with ACB, Nashik, and an inquiry was conducted where it was found that the duo had made a bribe demand and subsequently an offence was lodged against them, it said.
