Two clerks suspended in Hastinapur land grab scam

Two revenue clerks were suspended on corruption charges in connection with the land grabbing case at Hastinapur Sanctuary.
The district authorities suspended Revenue Clerks Ramesh Chand and Promod Kumar yesterday after they were found involved in alleged encroachment of the sanctuary land.
According to Tehsildar Harsh Chawla, the two were found involved in the government land grabbing case. Earlier, these clerks were shifted to Budhansa Tehsil from Jansath after the exposure of the scam involving crore of rupees.
District authorities, including the police and forest department officials, had unearthed alleged land grabbing at Hastinapur sanctuary in which they found unauthorised possession of 700 bigha of government land worth crores of rupees.
Meanwhile, attachment proceedings have been initiated against four land mafias Jasvir Singh Randhawa, Jasvant Singh, Lacha Singh, and a former village head Gurmit Singh, all of whom are absconding, police said.
A case against the four has been registered under the Forest Act.

Yesterday, a local court had allowed the police to interrogate two other revenue clerks, who were in judicial custody for their alleged involvement in the case.
According to prosecution, the police had sought the custody of the two accused clerks who were in judicial custody till December 12.
